Which deadline is 31 October

On 19 October 2026 the scholarships.gov.in homepage said renewal applications are open for the PM-USP Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students, and for the PM-USP Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. It gave one student closing date, 31 October 2026, institute verification on 15 November 2026, and level-2 verification on 30 November 2026.

That sentence is about those two schemes. Other NSP schemes can close on different days. Open the scheme on the portal before you treat 31 October as your date.

The 200 KB line we could verify

The NSP Standard Operating Procedures say a student who does not have Aadhaar must upload a scanned bank passbook with photograph in PDF or JPEG, maximum size 200 KB, and also a bonafide student certificate. The same SOP asks for a readable scan. It does not publish one maximum that covers income certificates, marksheets, and every other attachment.

If your passbook PDF is over 200 KB, compress it and check the result is at or under 200,000 bytes. Our 200 KB compressor uses that stricter count, so it also fits a portal that treats 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. A JPEG that is only slightly over can go through the image compressor. Keep the original scan.

If the portal names a different size

Follow the number on your scheme, not a number from a coaching site. The PDF compressor also has 50 KB, 100 KB, 300 KB, 500 KB, and 1 MB presets. A file that is already under the maximum does not need to be compressed.
