When a form says the photo must be under 20KB
20KB here means 20,000 bytes. Protean PAN instructions have listed a photograph around 3.5Γ2.5 cm, 200 DPI, and 20 KB or smaller. That is a photo rule, not a signature rule. The signature on those instructions has been listed nearer 10 KB. Use the signature resizer for that file, and open the live guideline before you submit, because the numbers move between cycles.
SSC and several railway forms capture the candidate photo through the webcam. They do not want a 20KB photo file. Do not resize a portrait for those exams unless the notice you are holding asks for one.
What changes inside the file
A phone photo is far larger than 20,000 bytes, so the export is a smaller JPEG. Faces stay recognisable at this size when the crop is tight. A full-length group photo will not. Set the width and height if the form prints them, and tick crop when the portal wants an exact shape rather than white bars.
If you also need the file to stay above a number, turn on the minimum. The page will say when a JPEG comment was added to reach it. Download only after the byte count on the card matches the rule in your notice.
