Password from the official format

Last checked 19 October 2026. Formats are copied from the Income Tax Department AIS help page and the TRACES password tutorial. Employer Form 16 is not listed — payroll teams choose their own password.

Sources and the letter-case rules are on the Form 16, AIS and ITR password guide. CBDT Circular 07/2026 extended one AY 2026-27 due date to 21 November 2026. A 31 December belated date is not confirmed on this page.

Private by Design — Unlock Only Files You Own

Your PDF and password are processed in this browser tab and never sent to a server. This tool needs the correct password: it cannot crack unknown passwords or remove DRM. Only unlock documents you own or have permission to change. An unlocked copy can make a digital signature on the original show as invalid. Keep the file you downloaded from the department or TRACES.

How to use the AIS and Form 16 PDF Password

  1. Choose the document type

Pick AIS PDF, AIS JSON import, a TRACES Form 16, Form 26AS, or an email intimation. Employer Form 16 is not in the list, because payroll passwords are not published as one format.

  2. Enter PAN or TAN and the date

Use the date of birth or incorporation as on the PAN or TAN record. The page formats it as DDMMYYYY and sets the letter case the help page asks for.

  3. Add the PDF and unlock

The password is filled in for you. Unlocking happens in this browser tab.

  4. Download and keep the original

Save the unlocked copy for reading. Keep the file the department or TRACES sent, especially if it carries a digital signature.

AIS and Form 16 PDF Password FAQ

What is the AIS PDF password?

The Income Tax Department help page says the AIS PDF password is the PAN in lower case plus the date of birth or incorporation in DDMMYYYY, with no spaces. Example from that page: PAN AAAAA1234A and 21 January 1991 becomes aaaaa1234a21011991. The JSON import password on the same page uses the PAN in capitals.

What is the Form 16 password?

It depends who created the file. TRACES says a deductor’s Form 16, 16A, 27D, or TBR opens with the TAN in capital letters. TRACES Form 16B, 16C, 16D, and 16E for a taxpayer open with the date of birth in DDMMYYYY. A Form 16 emailed by an employer can use a payroll password that is not in those documents. Check that email. This page will not invent it.

Does unlocking break the digital signature?

It can. The unlocked copy is a new file, so a signature on the original may show as invalid. Keep the original download.

Is 31 December 2026 the belated ITR deadline?

Not confirmed here. CBDT Circular 07/2026 extended one AY 2026-27 due date, for the taxpayers it names, from 31 October 2026 to 21 November 2026. Check incometax.gov.in for your return type.

Are my PAN and the PDF uploaded?

No. The file is processed by JavaScript inside your browser tab and never sent to our servers. Closing the tab clears it from memory.

Quick answers

Do EasyPDFHub tools upload my files to a server?

No. EasyPDFHub runs conversions and edits inside your web browser using JavaScript libraries such as pdf-lib and the Canvas API. When you pick a file, it stays on your device in memory until you download the result. We do not operate a file-upload API for PDF or image processing, so there is no account, queue, or cloud storage step. That makes the tools suitable for contracts, payslips, ID scans, and other sensitive documents you would not email to a random website. You need a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) and a stable device — very large files may be slower because processing uses your CPU, not remote servers. Always keep a backup of originals before editing.
