Is this true redaction?

No. It draws an opaque black box on top of the page. The original text may still exist underneath and could be copied or extracted. Use certified redaction software for legal or compliance work.

When is a visual blackout enough?

For screenshots, printed copies, or informal sharing where the recipient only views the page. To be safer, convert the result to images with PDF to JPG and back with JPG to PDF.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The file is processed by JavaScript inside your browser tab and never sent to our servers. Closing the tab clears it from memory.

Can I black out several areas?

Apply one box, download, and run the file through again for each additional area.

No. EasyPDFHub runs conversions and edits inside your web browser using JavaScript libraries such as pdf-lib and the Canvas API. When you pick a file, it stays on your device in memory until you download the result. We do not operate a file-upload API for PDF or image processing, so there is no account, queue, or cloud storage step. That makes the tools suitable for contracts, payslips, ID scans, and other sensitive documents you would not email to a random website. You need a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) and a stable device — very large files may be slower because processing uses your CPU, not remote servers. Always keep a backup of originals before editing.
