Increase Photo Size in KB — Free, No Upload

Pad a JPG up to a minimum without changing the picture

Raise a JPG that a form rejected for being too small. Extra bytes are a JPEG comment, so the picture itself does not change. The file stays on your device.

Photo to enlarge in KB

JPG is padded in place. PNG, WebP, and GIF are saved as JPG first, with white behind any transparency.

The floor is 10,240 bytes (10 × 1,024). A portal that counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes will also see the file as large enough.

When a form says the photo is too small

Some application sites reject a JPG under a minimum, often 10 KB. Shrinking it further does not help. This page adds a JPEG comment until the file crosses that floor. The pixels stay the same, which matters when the notice also checks the face, background, and file type.

What this does not fix

A live webcam photo, a wrong background, or a file that is already over the maximum needs a different step. Use the image compressor when the photo is too large. This tool does not invent detail, change dimensions, or pad a PDF.

Last checked

The padding method was checked on 19 October 2026. Exam minimums change. Read the notice for your form, including the CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 photo guide (confirmed 10 kb minimum) and the JEE Main 2027 photo guide (2027 sizes not yet confirmed).

How to use the Increase Photo Size in KB

  1. Add the photo the form rejected

JPG is padded as-is. PNG, WebP, and GIF are saved as JPG first. HEIC needs the HEIC to JPG tool before this page.

  2. Pick the minimum

10, 20, 25, or 50 KB, or type another number up to 500. The floor is that number times 1,024 bytes.

  3. Increase size

A JPEG comment is inserted after the start of the file. The pixels are not redrawn when the original was already a JPG.

  4. Download and check the bytes

The result shows the exact byte count. If the file was already large enough, nothing is added.

Increase Photo Size in KB FAQ

Does this change how the photo looks?

Not when the file is already a JPG. The extra bytes are a JPEG comment. PNG, WebP, and GIF are redrawn as JPG, with white behind transparency, and then padded if they are still under the floor.

Why multiply by 1,024?

Some portals treat 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and some as 1,024. The minimum uses 1,024 so the file clears both. A 10 KB floor is 10,240 bytes.

Which exams need a minimum KB?

The CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 bulletin says the scanned photograph and the signature must be at least 10 kb. JEE Main 2027 sizes were not confirmed from NTA on 19 October 2026. A 2025 NTA notice used 10 kb to 300 kb for that year’s photograph. Read your own form.

Can this shrink a photo that is too big?

No. Use the image compressor when the file is over the maximum. Padding only adds bytes.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. The file is processed by JavaScript inside your browser tab and never sent to our servers. Closing the tab clears it from memory.

Quick answers

Do EasyPDFHub tools upload my files to a server?

No. EasyPDFHub runs conversions and edits inside your web browser using JavaScript libraries such as pdf-lib and the Canvas API. When you pick a file, it stays on your device in memory until you download the result. We do not operate a file-upload API for PDF or image processing, so there is no account, queue, or cloud storage step. That makes the tools suitable for contracts, payslips, ID scans, and other sensitive documents you would not email to a random website. You need a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) and a stable device — very large files may be slower because processing uses your CPU, not remote servers. Always keep a backup of originals before editing.
